Shyam Kishore Das
Shyam Kishore Das is a lecturer on Eastern mysticism and an Indian Classical musician, mostly performing kirtan, an ancient form of Indian devotional singing and instrumental accompaniment. Shyam has personally trained under India’s greatest musicians including Zakir Hussein and others at the Ali Akbar Khan School of Music in California and in India. Shyam is a Kirtan singer, an expert tabla player and a tasteful and sensitive Sarod player and violinist. Shyam has been a studio recording artist for over 20 years and co-founded the well known Avatar Studios in the Washington DC area which is dedicated to recording Kirtan and cross-cultural devotional music. Shyam also has a keen interest in the role of sustainable agriculture and ecological preservation in religion and is currently authoring two books based on the tenets of Vedic theology from India. Shyam Kishore has also served on the Board of Directors for several non-profit organizations including Live Green, Food For Life Global, and Avatar Studios. Shyam earned a Masters in Management Systems from George Washington University and is currently working closely with the development of a thriving eco-village project, Gita Nagari Farm, in Port Royal, Pennsylvania, where he resides with his wife Amrita and his two year old son.
